Expert opinions · For legal professionals abroad

An Argentine reference for your firm.

Opinions on Argentine law tailored to law firms, notaries and accountants abroad who have cases with a cross-border component.

Typical cases.

Estates with assets in Argentina

A client of yours has inherited assets in Argentina and asks you for full advice. You need to know what Argentine law provides before signing off on the case at home, so as to avoid contradictions between the two jurisdictions.

Contracts with Argentine counterparties

You are drafting a commercial contract, a sale or a corporate agreement with an Argentine counterparty. You want confirmation on the validity of the clauses under Argentine law and their practical effect in the event of litigation before an Argentine court.

Cross-border litigation

A client of yours is involved in a dispute with Argentine parties resident in Argentina (debt recovery, commercial disputes, international divorce). You want to assess whether to bring the case at home or in Argentina, and what the likely outcome would be in each jurisdiction.

Timelines and format.

Opinions are delivered in writing, in English, with Argentine legal references. Standard timeline: 7–15 working days from receipt of all the documentation, save for agreed urgencies. Fee on a fixed basis per opinion or hourly, depending on the volume of work.

The opinion is a technical tool for you, not for your client: professional responsibility toward the end client remains with the professional abroad. My role is to give you the elements of Argentine law with which you build the advice for your client.

Areas of competence.

  • Argentine succession law (forced heirship, distribution, wills, international succession)
  • Argentine real-estate law (ownership, adverse possession, leases, land-registry registration)
  • Argentine company law (corporations, limited companies, shareholdings, dissolution)
  • Argentine foreign-exchange law (BCRA rules on repatriation of funds, exchange controls)
  • Argentine labour law (for cases of foreign workers in Argentina or vice versa)
  • Argentine family law (international divorce, cross-border maintenance, recognition of judgments)
  • Argentine AI regulation (in articulation with the European AI Act)

Frequently asked questions.

Can I bill your opinion to my client?
Yes, the opinion is an external consultancy you can pass on to the client as part of the cost of the matter. I issue an Argentine invoice (export format), which you can include as an accessory expense in your own fee note.
How much does an opinion cost?
It depends on the volume of analysis. Short opinions (1–3 pages, single focused question): 200–400 euros. Detailed opinions (5–15 pages with case-law analysis): 600–1,500 euros. Extraordinary cases on a quote. I always give you the quote before starting.
Can you sign the opinion so it can be filed in proceedings in my country?
I can sign it with all my credentials (Argentine bar admission, AIPIA position). Whether the opinion is admissible as expert evidence in proceedings in your country depends on the court and the procedural context: that assessment belongs to the local lawyer handling the case.
In which languages do you write the opinions?
English by default. On request also in Spanish or Italian, at no extra cost if the length is similar.
